Tears flow on Interstate 75

We drove from Pensacola to my Dads place in Summerfield, Florida today, about a 5 1/2 hour trek. Cole and I are getting into a rhythm with regards to sharing driving duties, gas/bathroom stops, food and what we listen to. We saw Ready Player One the other night so we decided to download the audible book and compare notes - just FYI, the book has way more detailed 80's references than the movie. I've also introduced Cole to the S-Town serial podcast which if you haven't heard of and have the time and patience for a long, complicated and fascinating true story, JJ says check it out.

At some point today while I was driving and Cole was taking a roadnap, I decided to listen to a throw back from my youth, "The Innocent Age" album by Dan Fogelberg.
I was doing fine until the emotional, 1-2 gut punch of "Leader of the Band" followed by "Same Old Lang Syne" came on. So there I am, rocketing down I75 at 70 mph with tears streaming from below my sunglasses, hoping Cole doesn't wake up. Unless he reads this I don't think he'll ever know - but, it's amazing to me how much emotion music can surface, especially emotion that's been buried for so long.
